 RONALD W. LEWIS is a Martindale-Hubbell AV preeminent peer-rated attorney with regard to both legal abilitiy and ethical standards.  This is the highest available rating. He is a  native of Buffalo, Wyoming. He obtained a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College, Hanover, New .Hampshire, in 1965, a Master of Arts in Teaching  French Language and Literature from Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1969, and a law degree from the University of Mississippi in Oxford  in 1978. He received the AM JUR award in environmental law and was a student writer for the SeaGrant program with two limited publications. 

 He was admitted to the Mississippi Bar and the Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi in May, 1978.  He was admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in 1979, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi in 1985, the U.S. Supreme Court in 1990 and the U.S. Claims Court in 1991. Mr. Lewis has been in continuous private practice in Oxford, Mississippi since 1978. 

PROFESSIONAL  ACTIVITIES

Mr. Lewis has been a presenter at Continuing Legal Education seminars on police misconduct in Houston, Texas and New Orleans, Louisiana, as well as Cleveland and Pearl, Mississippi.  He also has made presentations on employment discrimination at an annual conference of the Mississippi Bar in Biloxi, Mississippi and before attorneys in Tupelo, Mississippi.

For several years Mr. Lewis was the training coordinator for attorneys representing indigent federal criminal defendants and was the representative for the Northern Judicial District of Mississippi to the National Conference of Criminal Justice Act attorneys.

Mr. Lewis is a former member of the American Inns of Court, III and is a member of the Mississippi and Lafayette County Bar Associations.  

CIVIC ACTIVITIES 

Mr. Lewis served as a member of the Lafayette County Democratic Executive Committee for many years, serving as chairman from 1987 to 1994.  He is a past chairman of the Mississippi Sierra Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Mississippi Civil Liberties Union and the Mississippi Association of Children with Learning Disabilities.  He is also a recently retired member of the University of Mississippi Institutional Review Board (IRB) and served as the auctioneer for the University of Mississippi Art Students Association Annual Art Auction for many years.
